Michael Berry, Ph.D., is the co-publisher of Morning Notes with his son Chris Berry. Morning Notes is a bi-weekly newsletter that analyzes emerging geopolitical, technologicalNewImage and economic trends in the mining industry. SNNLive caught up with Dr. Berry at Cambridge House International’s California Resource Investment Conference 2013 in Palm Springs, CA. ”I talked about what’s called, ‘The Turn of the Tides’. ‘The Turn of the Tides’ is about, in the next 5 years, how this country is going to change, what’s going to happen to US currency, what will happen to consumerism in the United States, what will happen in congress; all of those issues are going to come together to force a big change for investors in this country,” Dr. Berry begins. When asked about the next 5 years, Dr. Berry explains, “Well, I think, as I’ve said in my speech, I think in the next 5 years the power of the US dollar will wane. I think we’ll have increased debt levels, we now see entitlement spending at 69%, way above where it can be sustained, we’re going to have more debt. We’re going to have a congress in the next 5 years that simply can’t agree to agree, and right now, we have a president that wants a fight, and that’s where we are right now, and that’s a very difficult situation.”

When asked about his recommendation to solve this situation he laid out, Dr. Berry states, “The most important thing, and this is what I try to do every time I’m here (Cambridge House International) is education. Educating the voter, educating all the voters, the young people especially, that their future is at stake, their economic future, the intrusion of government into the economy is significant, and it’s negative for most of these people. So, we need to educate, we need to have people who vote, and understand what they are voting for, and understand what the issues are.”

On the junior resource industry, Dr. Berry says, “Well, that’s a very pertinent question because we are in fact at a resource conference populated mainly by Canadian companies, and it is the most difficult time for any of these companies; most of them have no revenues, no profits, no cash flows, some of them don’t even have a resource, don’t even have a mine yet, and they can’t raise money. I know that first hand, and I think you know that first hand too. So a lot of these companies are going to disappear, and when that happens, the price of these commodities because the exploration side of it comes off-stream, the price of many these commodities will go up a lot, and so we’ll go through that cycle again, but we’ll go through it with fewer companies.” For more information about Michael Berry, Ph.D., and to subscribe to his free bi-weekly newsletter, Morning Notes, check out his website.
